About Us

The Western Raptors Rugby Club was a 20 year dream which started back in 2000. With the newly formed Rooty Hill Raptors Junior Rugby Union Club back in 1999, a meeting was set up with some of the founding members, William (Bill) Archer and Anthony Gill, to establish a Senior club to coincide with the Juniors. The Junior club didn’t officially kick off until the following year, the start of the new Millennia.

The birth of the Junior Club was purely to spread the love of Rugby Union and to widen the catchment of surrounding Blacktown and Penrith Districts. For the Senior club, it was basically a pathway for the Juniors to continue playing Rugby within the local area without having to go out to other Districts.

2019 we were finally excepted in to the NSW Suburban Rugby Union Division Six competition, which is a One Team comp. Our first 2 weeks of training we had 26 names on paper but only 6 players would turn up. Was this a mistake? well, within our short 2 year history it would prove to be the right decision. Not because of the successes thus far, but rather the culture that has been created at the Western Raptors. Our debut season in 6th Division was successful, winning the premiership and taking home the Meldrum Cup. In 2020 we were promoted to Division 4 with two grades, the end of regular season saw us crowned Club Champions and after tough battles in the finals, we took home the McLean & Grose Cups.
